The four-day
BAICT 2007 featuring ICT-related products kicked off
yesterday morning at the Atrium Hall, The Mall in Gadong.
BAICT 2007 (Brunei Awareness on Info-Communication
Technology) has over 20 participants including Brunei Press
Sdn Bhd, The Empire Hotel and Country Club, Concept
Commercial Suppliers, Ezy Printing Services and Trading Co
Sdn Bhd.
At the
launching ceremony was the guest of honour, Pehin Major
General (R) Dato Hj Awg Mohammad bin Haji Daud, Minister of
Culture, Youths and Sports.

Haji Abdul Rahman, BAICT project manager, said, Brunei
Darussalam's achievement in ICT is at par with other
countries. "As an example, government schools are already
equipped with smart labs, wireless Internet and others,
which will enhance the knowledge of our young generation in
the ICT field," he said. The strategy is to organise a local
ICT event but with a total holistic approach involving all
ICT-related providers including ICT hardware companies, ICT
software companies, ICT resources, and even ICT Education
providers. ICT as a learning tool opens up huge
possibilities of learning for everyone.
The use of
the Internet, multimedia and virtual learning environment
has contributed greatly to lifelong learning as a basic
educational principle, as well as for providing access to
education and training opportunities for all, in particular,
for those who have access problems due to social, economic,
geographical or other reasons, said the organiser, fmBRUNEI
Event Management.
Fun
activities, games and musical performances, quizzes, TAIB
lucky draw, colouring contest for kids, and artistes
performances are the activities to be held throughout the
